Seyu Connected 42 Nations of Fans at the European Junior Swimming Championships
In July 2025, Seyu joined forces with European Aquatics, the continental governing body for aquatic sports affiliated with World Aquatics, to deliver a breakthrough fan engagement experience during the European Junior Swimming Championships in Šamorín, Slovakia. The initiative was supported by EPAM, a global leader in digital engineering, cloud, and AI-enabled transformation services.
This collaboration marked a significant step forward in European Aquatics’ digital transformation journey, offering on location and remote fans a new way to actively participate and support young athletes through Seyu’s selfie sending platform. Supporters from around the world were invited to share their fan photos and messages of encouragement, which were displayed live at the pool side LED screens, creating a powerful sense of presence and unity.
European Aquatics President Antonio Silva commented, “On behalf of European Aquatics, I’m delighted to see the innovative steps being taken on our digital transformation journey. Let’s use this technology to ensure every athlete feels the support of the entire European aquatics community, no matter where they are. Together, we are connecting fans and athletes like never before.”

Making fan engagement global – and social
The activation achieved truly global participation. Fans accessed the selfie platform from 61 countries and submitted photos from 42 nations, highlighting the widespread appeal and inclusiveness of the initiative.
Most notably, 78% of participants came from Gen Z and Alpha generations, and 90.13% were under the age of 40 — underscoring how digital-native audiences are not only eager but also expectant to engage with sports in dynamic, interactive ways. This younger demographic, often difficult to reach through traditional broadcast channels, embraced the opportunity to express their passion and be visibly part of the event, even without being physically present in the arena.
Unlocking a High-Value Female Audience
Interestingly, 58% of participants were women, significantly above the average we’ve observed across 1,000+ international sports events. This overrepresentation is more than a stat – it’s a signal.
For brands in skincare and sports nutrition, this is a high-value, under-tapped audience. According to WifiTalents Reports, women drive 70–80% of consumer purchasing in the health and beauty sector. In skincare alone, women account for over $100 billion in annual global spending, far outpacing men’s market share
This makes Seyu’s activation not only a fan engagement success – but a prime opportunity for sponsors targeting wellness-conscious, digitally engaged women across Europe.
Turning local moments into global fan connections
By turning digital engagement into a visible, real-time fan presence inside the venue, Seyu helped foster a sense of emotional unity and motivation for the young athletes competing on the European stage. The activation demonstrated the value of tech-driven fan experiences in elevating the atmosphere of live events and making them more inclusive – extending the boundaries of traditional spectator sports.
The success of this activation reinforces the power of partnerships between sport organisations, digital innovators, and transformation leaders like EPAM. Together, they are reshaping how fans interact with live events and paving the way for the next generation of fan engagement.
