MOL Selfie Cam arrives in Celje for the EHF Champions League

After two seasons away, RK Celje Pivovarna Laško returned to the EHF Champions League this September, bringing Europe’s top-level club handball back to Celje and the Zlatorog Arena. For a city with such a strong handball identity, the return was a significant moment - and a great opportunity to bring fans even closer to the action.

For MOL Selfie Cam, it also marked the launch of a new activation site, delivered together with EHF, MOL, Celje Marketing and Seyu.

Launching something new across several organisations can easily become a complicated process. Different teams, timelines, priorities and technical requirements all need to come together before a fan ever sees the activation. In this case, however, three years of continuous cooperation between the partners made the process remarkably smooth. There was already a shared understanding of how we work, what the activation needs to deliver and, most importantly, how to make it work for the fans.

On site, the hostesses played an important role in bringing the activation to life. Introducing a new fan experience is always easier when there is someone there to explain it, encourage participation and make the first interaction feel natural. Their presence helped turn curiosity into participation and made MOL Selfie Cam an active part of the matchday experience.

And the response was strong. The activation generated a great level of participation from Celje fans, proving once again that when the technology, the partnership and the on-site experience come together, fans are ready to get involved.

A new Champions League chapter for Celje - and a new chapter for MOL Selfie Cam in the city.
